When I look back at the very beginning of my aesthetics journey, I smile now… but at the time, I was overwhelmed, confused, and honestly, a little scared.
Like many new injectors, I started with what felt like the most convenient option: online videos, online modules, online “certifications” that overpromised quick confidence and instant mastery. I remember sitting there at my laptop, notebook in hand, pausing every three minutes to replay a clip, or writing every word, trying desperately to understand facial anatomy from a flat screen. Trying to feel what depth means when a needle enters the skin on the screen. Trying to imagine what “proper tension” looks like or how “slow, steady pressure” should actually feel in your hand.
But the truth? I wasn’t learning injection. I was memorizing online theory. And theory alone doesn’t build an injector.
The Moment I Realized Online Learning Was Not Enough
I will never forget my first time holding a syringe on an actual patient. My hands were steady, but inside I was shaking and my heart was going crazy fast. All the online diagrams and theory suddenly felt different in real life. Muscle depth wasn’t as obvious as is looked on the animated videos. Skin elasticity felt different from model to model. And those “universal landmarks” I studied online? They didn’t look the same on every face I saw in front of me.
That’s when it hit me: injection is not something you can learn from a screen. It’s something you must feel, see, experience, practice, be guided through.
In that moment, I understood why so many injectors feel unprepared, unsafe, or stuck after only online training. It’s not their fault. They simply never had the chance to feel the work, and without the hands-on experience, you don’t truly understand it.

My entire confidence shifted the day I attended my first real, hands-on training. I reached out to Allergan Aesthetics and they send one of their trainers to show me how it’s done, hands-on, real patients, real products, real assessment and anatomy!
Suddenly, everything clicked. I had an instructor next to me, guiding my hand position, correcting my angle, explaining what I should be feeling beneath the tissue, showing me how anatomy looks on real faces, not textbook faces. It felt like the missing puzzle piece I didn’t know I was searching for.
I left that training thinking: “Why isn’t everyone learning this way? Why did I waste so much time and money online?”
